THE DANDELION SEED was a series of new textile works by Brockley-based multi-disciplinary artist Lucinda Purkis whose work centres around world-building and the mapping of fears, memories, dreams and anxieties.

The works featured at the FABRIQ gallery documented and celebrated the small moments and slow shifts of the natural world – rotting fruit, scattered seeds, birds in flight, the sky’s changing hue – as means to ground ourselves in our daily lives.

Purkis’ visual language is constantly expanding and contains an array of eclectic references. THE DANDELION SEED was informed by a variety of textile histories including queer and feminist banner making, the ethos of DIY and folk textiles, large scale community activist artworks such as the AIDS memorial quilt, Christian textile traditions, and the Gee’s Bend Quilters collective.
